From the moment I began reading, MYSTIQUE, I couldn’t turn away, I couldn’t stop thinking about it. With each turn of the page, there was something new that took me deep inside this intriguing adventure. What I found very unique was the way in which the beauty of the West Virginia countryside was used as a backdrop against some of the most intense and suspenseful scenes I’ve ever read. They were woven together magnificently, creating a most superb story. The struggles that Janice endured, the torturous moments that kept me pressed tightly to each word, all were written in such a way that had me holding my breath with anticipation and hope.

Ms. Shirley is a new voice that needs to be heard. Her writing style is crisp and quite refreshingly candid. MYSTIQUE, the first book in a trilogy, is her debut novel and without a doubt just the beginning for her.
